更換SME陶瓷軸承步驟說明

Here is the sample for SME 3009R, the different between R and non R tonearm is the height of bearing, the none R type is 4 MM height, the R type is 5MM height.
The R type will require a O-Ring(included in the kit). The None R type will not need it.
When you remove the bearing you will know your bearing is 4 mm or 5 mm.

Remove the Ground screws.

Unsoiled the inner tonearm wire.

There will be 5 cables.(Red, Green, White, Blue, and Black)

Unscrew the knife bearing screws.

Here is the tonearm.( Rember keep all the screws together, because you will going to need all of them)

Unscrew the RCA plug fix screws.

[8]Remove the bearing dust protect cap.

Bottom view after remove bearing dust protect cap.
There will be 2 small holes on the bottom.

Used a clap insert the two small holes, then twist it un-clock. Than the knife bearing hold will separate from bearing.(Please check my left position)

Her is the main bearing parts.

After you remove the main bearing parts, you will see the bearing.

Use the wood stick to remove original bearing. After you remove the bearing, compare with ceramic bearing. If the ceramic bearing is short, then you will need O-Ring.
*SME 3009R, 3010R, 3012R and late 3009 S2 improve(with RCA plug) will need O-ring.

Insert the O-ring, If your tonearm is not SME(3009R, 3010R, 3012R and late 3009 S2 improve(with RCA plug)). You NO NEED O-ring.

[16]Insert the ceramic bearing. The ceramic bearing is very fragile. Do not force it. The size of the bearing is the same perfect as the original one.

There will be need two bearing, one on the top and the other one at bottom.

Insert the main bearing gently.

Use clap to fix the main bearing screw.

Test the bearing, twist it, and feel it freely.
After you install the bearing correctly, there should be a gap about 2 mm. Also it will work freely. You can adjust it with clap. Than you will have the new ceramic bearing.
PS .Reverse the steps from 8~1, then you will have a new tonearm.
