When Jeff first listened to vinyl records, it all because the cover designs of the vinyl records are so beautiful. So Jeff started collecting them. Up to now, he has already spent over NT$3 million (US$10,000) purchasing audio equipments. The most amazing part is, there is no TV set in Jeff's house! Instead of TV, he chooses music!
Is it true that when you listen to vinyl records, you won't care about TV anymore? Maybe it is, for someone like Jeff that owns more than 4,000 pcs of vinyl records. Probably there is no other entertainment in life could compet with the importance of vinyl records in his mind. As for why giving up the easy-to-operate digital source, instead of preferring the analog source which other people might consider inconvenient, "I hate the feelings of holding compact disc's plastic box. Don't you think the CD must not be good come from the plastic box?" Jeff said.
So, a vinyl record, is indeed existing as metaphysical aesthetics.
Jeff's interest in vinyl records began when he studied in the states in 1999. He knew a lot of friends who all loves vinyl records there, and involve more. Of course, there are many channel to purchase vinyl records in the states, is part of the reasons.
" I hardly purchase vinyl records in Taiwan. Normally, I will buy 40-50 pcs at the same time from the states, or from collectors abroad. Sometimes I even purchase 200pcs at the same time!"
Watching Jeff happily introducing his vinyl records, suddently, it seems to me that I couldn't even think of which particular CDs from the mass on my floor that I would be happy to share with other people? Maybe, the taste of vinyl records is not exactly in the sound of it. To be able to let every listner to value the sound and to share with it with other people, is the important reason why vinyl records is never out of date!
